Terms of Service — Words for the Day
Last updated: April 23, 2026
These terms govern your use of Words for the Day ("the app"), published by Learning Xperience Labs. By installing or using the app, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
If anything here is unclear, email us at gio@learningxperience.tech.
1. The service
Words for the Day is a free, bilingual (English and Spanish) devotional reading app. It offers 31-day devotional series organized around three worlds — Living World, Sacred Story, and Inner Journey — alongside community features where readers can suggest ideas, vote on them, and see some ideas turned into new devotionals.
- The app is free. There are no subscriptions, no in-app purchases, no paid tiers, and no affiliate links.
- The app does not contain advertising.
- You can use most of the app as a guest, without creating an account. Writing reflections and submitting community ideas requires a free account.
2. Content and AI disclosure
Devotional series in Words for the Day are authored by Learning Xperience Labs with the assistance of Anthropic's Claude AI. Specifically, Claude is used to help draft series outlines, daily passages, and image prompts, which are then reviewed, edited, and curated by a human editor before publication. Illustrations are generated locally with Qwen image models and curated the same way.
We believe this process preserves the spiritual intent of the content while letting us publish more reliably in two languages. You should know about it so you can decide for yourself whether this fits your devotional practice.
Scripture references are drawn from publicly available public-domain or openly licensed Bible translations. Attribution appears inside the app where required.
3. Your account
To write reflections or submit community content, you need an account. You can create one with Apple Sign In, Google Sign In, or email. You are responsible for:
- Keeping your login credentials secure
- The content you submit under your account
- Any activity attributed to your device identifier
You must be old enough to agree to a contract in your country (in the U.S., this is typically 13, though some services require 18). Accounts for children under 13 are not permitted unless created and supervised by a parent or guardian.
4. Community content
The community feature lets users submit two kinds of ideas:
- Feature suggestions — ideas for improving the app
- Devotional ideas — topics you'd like to see turned into a new 31-day series
When you submit content, you grant Learning Xperience Labs a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display it to other readers, moderate it, and — for devotional ideas — use it as inspiration to generate a new series. You keep ownership of your own words. We don't claim copyright in what you write.
Community rules
Do not submit content that:
- Harasses, bullies, threatens, or targets a person or group
- Contains hate speech, slurs, or discriminatory language
- Is sexually explicit or graphically violent
- Promotes self-harm or suicide
- Is spam, advertising, or off-topic
- Infringes someone else's copyright or trademark
- Contains personal information about another person
Moderation
We keep moderation light but real:
- An automated word filter screens submissions for obvious abuse at the time of posting
- Users can report a submission; after 3 reports, the submission is automatically hidden from the feed
- Devotional ideas that reach 25 upvotes move into a queue for possible generation
- We may remove any submission at any time, for any reason, without notice — most often for violating the rules above, but also for legal, safety, or quality reasons
We won't always explain why a specific submission was removed, but if you think we got it wrong, email us and we'll take a second look.
Rate limits
To keep the feed healthy, each device is limited to 3 submissions per 7 days. Votes are not rate-limited, but each device gets one vote per submission.
5. Your use of the app
Please don't:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the app, except to the extent the law permits
- Use automated tools to scrape content, mass-vote, or flood submissions
- Attempt to break the app's security, rate limits, or authentication
- Use the app to distribute malware or unlawful content
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation
6. Suspension and termination
We can suspend or close your account if you violate these terms. For serious violations (harassment, illegal content, security attacks), the suspension is usually immediate. For minor issues we'll typically reach out first.
You can close your own account at any time by emailing gio@learningxperience.tech. See the Privacy Policy for what happens to your data.
7. Not medical, legal, or professional advice
Words for the Day is a Christian devotional reading experience. The content expresses a religious perspective and is written for spiritual reflection. It is not:
- Medical or mental-health advice
- A substitute for therapy, counseling, or clinical care
- Legal, financial, or professional advice
If you are in crisis or considering self-harm, please reach out to a mental-health professional or a crisis line in your country. In the U.S., you can call or text 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
8. "As is" — no warranty
The app is provided as is and as available. We don't promise it will be uninterrupted, bug-free, or that it will meet your specific spiritual or practical needs. To the fullest extent allowed by law, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Learning Xperience Labs will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages arising out of your use of the app, including lost data, lost reflections, or lost reading progress. Our total liability in any matter will not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars ($100), which reflects the fact that the app is offered for free.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States of America and, where applicable, the laws of the state in which Learning Xperience Labs is organized. Any dispute will be resolved in the courts of the United States having general jurisdiction over Learning Xperience Labs. If any part of these terms is held unenforceable, the rest remain in effect.
11. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms meaningfully, we'll update the "Last updated" date and show an in-app notice the next time you open the app. Continued use of the app after that notice counts as acceptance.
